I suppose I forgive you, my son..

Tolerant of intolerance as per usual

Some sections of our gloriously multicultural society are the first to start waving death threats around whenever they feel their culture or creed is being unfairly criticized but cannot seem to hide their disdain of the values of the country where they chose to settle. This lady, working at the venerable Marks and Spencer's, a branch in Reading, made no secret of her opinions of the Christian Bible , a book that once meant a lot to a lot of people in this country in years before secular cuddling of muslim intolerance dominated the status quo.

The farce that is politics:

Who would have thought that Tony Blur would end up looking sort of better than the current incumbent of 10 Downing Street?

Music to soothe the savage breast..

Wrote a post on another of my blogs here in which I wax a tad lyrical about the many hours of musical joy I derive from listening to my excellent MP3 player. 'Tis not an Ipod but rather a nice bulky machine made by a venerable competitor. Perhaps not as trendy but it has a vast memory and I am able to load up as much music and as many podcasts as my fond heart desires. Technology: it's both a nightmare and a state of bliss.

Submission

Yesterday I received a polite poetry submission from a lady somewhere in the US. I used to get a great number of submissions from American poets and the quality of their work was usually very high. Of course, I had to let this particular poet know that Ancient Heart Magazine has ceased publication, something she might have realised if she would have read the final issue online, but nevermind. It is in many ways a relief not to have to deal with the great number of submissions that sometimes used to flood AHM's mailbox, but on the other hand the personal contact with budding poets was a nice thing to be doing. Some were so earnest and hopeful and being a poet myself I am aware of the fragile sensibilities involved in submitting your work to an editor whom you hope may smile kindly on your innermost feelings caught in verse.

And yet, no longer editing the magazine has freed me up and I am currently working on several projects, all of which are very hush-hush, you'll understand. In due course I will go public with some of them but for now I must remain invisible, quietly scribbling away..

Writing bug

It's Friday, I'm at work and I feel like sitting at a desk and penning a masterpiece of world literature. Things always get in the way. Things such as the four-letter word work, personal life, just having to out and work for a boss means a lot of my time is spent on pursuits that distract from writing that book to end all books. I do have some ideas and I think the time is soon at hand when I will seriously start writing my own book in a more serious and sustainable way. I will keep you posted!
