Having made landfall in Australia, it is time I started investigating the Aussie poetry scene. Of course, I am familiar with Les Murray but I will be doing research on a wider scope, I'm sure. And, I intend to revive AHM's fortune's from its new base, here in Sydney.

Just spent a great night out in the centre of Sydney. What a great town this is. A friend and I had a few drinks in a pub that overlooked the famous harbour. The Celtic vibe

The other day I was happily watching the recent BBC adaptation of 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles' and among other things I was really taken by the strings in the soundtrack. They were just so haunting and melancholy and really suited the tragic happenings in the story. In a way they seemed very Irish and I once again thought how much I love Celtic music. The soul is swept away and the heart rendered helpless. It moves me to the core.

Poetry book

A friend of mine gave me a great book of poetry. It is the Oxford Book of Travel Verse and I am really pleased with it. Already, during some preliminary browsing, I came across some wonderful poems. There are some by Rudyard Kipling and many other great writers. Writing and travel go together very well, I feel. Perhaps I'll write my own travel poems soon..

A camping holiday in France

There are a great many ways to enjoy a great holiday in a wide range of countries across the continent of Europe. The sheer diversity of places to go and have a holiday is fascinating. During my youth, my family and I used to go camping and we had some truly wonderful holidays. We always enjoyed staying somewhere near water, a lake or a river or the sea or else somewhere with mountains and forests. Sometimes, we were lucky enough to be able to combine these two requirements. My parents were always happy when my little brother and I were having a good time.
